  1. Thank your for evaluating WCS Trivia from WCS Software!
  2.  
  3. Full instructions are located in the WCSServer.hlp or TrivEdit.hlp
  4. files, but here is a quick "condensed" version of the installation
  5. instructions to get you started:
  6.  
  7. 1 - Unzip the WCSTriv10.zip file into a temp directory.
  8.  
  9. 2 - Run the SETUP.EXE file included.  This will install the program
  10.     for you, and ask you where you want to install it.  We recommend
  11.     the default installation location, however you can install it
  12.     wherever you wish.  The install program will lead you through the 
  13.     installation.  (It is a standard InstallShield install) After the 
  14.     installation is complete, it will create a program groupcalled WCS 
  15.     Trivia (or another, if you specified it), that will include the 
  16.     icons for the WCS Game Server, and the WCS Trivia Question Editor.
  17.     The game server will need to be running in order for the game to 
  18.     function correctly.

  20. 3 - After installation is complete, you will need to install the client
  21.     programs for your users.  To do this, you will need to shutdown the
  22.     all Wildcat/WINS programs and then the wcServer.  Once everything is
  23.     stopped, run the ClientInstall.exe program in your WC5 home directory.
  24.     When prompted for the location of the update file, choose "I already 
  25.     have the update file" and enter the directory where you installed
  26.     WCS Trivia.  When you press the "next" button, you should see the 
  27.     WCSTriv.wup file.  Choose that file and press "next", then at the
  28.     following screen, press "next" again.  This should install the
  29.     client program into your WC5/WINS system.

  31. 4 - After getting the client program installed, you now need to set your
  32.     security access for the new client in the Access Profiles section of 
  33.     wcConfig.   If you don't, people will get a "You don't have authority 
  34.     to run this client" message when trying to run it.
  35.  
  36.     To give security access for the WCS Trivia client:
  37.  
  38.     Verify that wcServer is running, and start wcConfig.
  39.     Open the Access Profiles icon, and select an access profile to edit.
  40.     Click the Clients tab, and be sure that the WCS Trivia Client is toggled 
  41.     on.
  42.     Click OK to save your changes and return to the previous window.
  43.     Repeat the procedure for each access profile that should be able to use 
  44.     WCS Trivia.

  46. 5 - Update a html page with the 
  47.     <a href="client?wcstriv.wcn"> WCS Trivia</a> anchor tag, so
  48.     people can run the client  from your web page.  You can use the 
  49.     supplied WCSTrivia.htm file as a guide.

  51. 6 - After all that is done, make sure and start the WCS Software Game Server 
  52.     (WCSServer.exe) program.  It should put a little icon in your system 
  53.     tray after it starts.  If this program is not running, the game won't work.

  55. You are done!  Start playing WCS Trivia!

  61. will be as easy to install and as trouble free as possible.  If you do
